What a place ! This is a restaurant that was surely missing from our “loco” city ! It opened about 6 months ago and became an instant hit for young crowds mainly.
The look is 50’s American Diner but the surprise is that there is a whole vintage bus inside where you can sit and eat !! Super crazy and super fun !!
The food offers options like pizza, burgers and more. You can also go for a drink as the cocktails list is quite good !

Spring & sunny weekends are here, so it’s time for me to suggest my favourite tavern by the sea. The name is quite strange as the place itself. “The waitress vanishes behind the curtain” in short “Waitress” in greek “Servitora”. You got confused ? No need. All you need to know is how to get there. You take the road to the airport and then continue to N.Epivates. Go right from the main road and when you get to the sea just walk a bit or ask around for the place. It is best to go by car, but a bus will also take you there eventually… Starting next month the boats from the Port to Peraia will probably also stop there so you can combine a swim with some great food & drink.
The food is really fresh and delicious, and the prices are very good. The earlier you get there the better chances for a nice table in front of the sea. Enjoy !

Another cool burger place in town ! Yummy !
It took me a while to discover this one, as it is a bit far from my lunch break area, but the visit was totally worth it.
My chicken burger was delicious, the fried potatoes are hand made, the service fast and friendly, what more do you need ? A stylish atmosphere? You have that also ! I dream of going back there very soon ! Just a short walk from White Tower.

A cool new burger place just opened in town called FoodPorn !
It is powered by the Ergon team so we expected good taste in a stylish environment and we were not dissapointed ! Cool and modern environment, great burgers and amazing salads !
It is located in the heart of the city centre close to cafes and bars so it is ideal for a quick bite before or after drinks and shopping.

So, August is here, and so am I, still in the city…
This is the first time in my life that I see the city this full in the month of August. There are so many people that do not go on vacations any more, but also so much more visitors !
The usual picture of the empty streets and shops in August, does not exist anymore…
I spent most of my day in the area of the port, in ladadika which is always lively because of tourists, especially the days that cruise ships arrive.
Today I will share a place for coffee, breakfast, quick lunch, healthy snacks and sweet pastries. It is albeta, with many locations throughout the city, but the main one is right next to my office in ladadika.
At albeta you will find greek and Italian recipes, produced with artistry from fresh and pure countryside products mixed with the finest Greek/Italian culture. Traditional pies, daily baked bread, handmade Italian pastry, grandma’s cookies, fresh sweets, homemade lemonade and sour cherry juice, fresh cut coffee.
This is my #1 spot for a quick coffee or lunch break all year long. If you also need a quick break and something nice to eat, I highly recommend it !

We are in the heart of the summer season and dear Thessaloniki visitors, today I am going to tell you about a great place to eat – ERGON !
Ergon is a restaurant and deli which opened it’s doors in March 2012 as a new concept store in the heart of Thessaloniki. Now it has 5 more sister stores in Greece, one in London and more are expected to come soon !
Ergon instantly became talk of the town – in the city known for good food – since it features classic greek recipes with a modern twist.
If you are more than 2 people, it is best to take a few dishes in the middle to share, greek style. That way you will have the chance to taste various dishes. Whatever you do, don’t leave without having a dessert !
With head chef the famous Dimitri Skarmoutso, fine quality first materials, and good prices there is no surprise for this success.
The restaurant in Thessaloniki, is not very big, and they don’t accept reservations so if you don’t find a place to sit go back in a less crowded hour, because it would be really a shame to miss this culinary experience. The menu changes often so I am giving you their webpage to check the current one.
If you enjoy your lunch or dinner – and I am 100% sure that you will, the deli next door will give you the chance to take with you a taste of Thessaloniki !
One of the best places to enjoy good food in the city is Agioli Restaruant at Nikis avenue.
Very close to Aristotelous square, this restaurant is known for good quality food, reasonable prices, relaxed atmosphere and amazing city view !
There are actually 3 different food menu options to choose from. On the ground floor you can find the beer house with a big selection of Greek breweries and mostly meet food choices to accompany them. On the other side of the ground floor you will find the “ouzeri” with seafood options.
Top floor is my personal favourite though, because nothing beats the balcony sea view from white tower to the port. The food choices here have big variety. You can choose excellent set menus or order a la carte. There are also many healthy food options, vegetarian dishes as well as organic !
After a healthy meal you can give an excuse to yourself to enjoy the delicious desserts !

I was really troubled if I should write about this place in the blog, because it is my # 1 favourite winter place for the last 3 years and is already quite crowded.
I finally decided that a) it is not fair to keep secrets, b) who reads this blog anyway, c) the universe will give back to me someday, so here it is, the one and only, Coq au Zen !
What I most love about this place is the unique atmosphere. It is located in a small old shopping arcade, so in the daytime you will also see small shops open next to it. As night time approaches, the arcade is transformed to an atmospheric bar and you forget you are in Thessaloniki.
Coq au Zen has good quality drinks and menu, an interesting selection of wines, and is also a good option for a lunch break or early dinner. After 22.00 it gets really crowded, except from the summer days where people prefer more outdoor settings.
The music is also very eclectic and quite different night after night, depending on the dj.
Don’t be surprised if you hear a live piano set, there is one at the back and not only for decoration !

The new hot entry of the season in the area of summer chill out bars was no doubt Dendrospito !
Located in one of the few parks in the heart of the city, Dendrospito (which means Treehouse) was the perfect chill out spot this summer for many people who had little or no vacation at all !
While the weather is still good I suggest you go there and enjoy the last weekend of September, and maybe the last summer nights, since I don’t know if this place will exist in a new form during the winter…
As you can see in the daytime photo I took especially for this purpose, the place itself is almost all open space, fun and colourful ! It has a nice relaxed atmosphere and music, you can drink as well eat, very friendly stuff, and excellent prices. What more do you need ?

A great way to start the week is with a tapas fiesta at Tapas Bar.
A tapas fiesta is a selection of tapas dishes for 1 ( yes one ) euro each ! Tapas fiesta is every Monday at Tapas Bar Ladadika. Besides the Monday fiesta they have a regular menu with tapas, paellas and more, and they also offer daily lunch menus with 6 euros !
Tapas Bar is located at Ladadika among many other restaurants. It is unique in style and taste as it has nothing to do with the rest traditional greek food places. It was recently renovated and now features a central bar so it is a nice option for an evening drink as well !
There is another Tapas bar a bit northern so you can visit anyone or both depending on where you are !
My favourite of course is the one in Ladadika which is located just opposite my office, and is a regular lunch break place for me !
