About Me: The Story Behind Love Thessaloniki

Hi there!
I’m Yolanda, a born-and-raised local, and I am so happy you stumbled upon my digital corner of the world.

HELLO

The story of this blog began back in August 2013. I met Eli D., a digital nomad who was visiting Thessaloniki for the first time, trying to experience the city like a true local. If you’ve ever been here in August, you know it feels like a ghost town—all the locals flee to the nearby beaches of Halkidiki, leaving the quiet, sun-drenched streets behind. Eli was struggling to find genuine, practical information to navigate the city, and that’s when a spark ignited inside me: Thessaloniki needed an authentic guide.

My Philosophy: Honest, Slow & Wholesome

Over the years, Love Thessaloniki evolved from a simple city guide into a space that reflects my personal code of living: honesty, compassion, slowness and a priority on health and well-being. This city has a unique, beautiful rhythm—a warm, slow-living vibe that you can’t easily find in other large European cities. Through this blog, I want to help you discover that exact magic. Whether you are a slow traveler, a newly arrived digital nomad, or a conscious explorer, this is your sanctuary.

What You Will Find Here

I’m here to give you all the necessary city info, general tips, and hidden local gems, from the best coffee, food & drink spots and rich historical monuments to my personal favorite eco-conscious, healthy, and nature lovers´ spots in town.

100% Independent: Love Thessaloniki is entirely independent and not affiliated with any company, except my business. Every single recommendation is based on my personal view of the city.

Radical Honesty: I am a fiercely honest person. If I love a place, you will feel my passion. If I don’t like it, I will tell you straight up—or simply choose to ignore it.

Original Photography: Almost all the photos you see here are captured by me during my daily walks. Feel free to copy or repost them, but please remember to be kind and mention the source!

Thessaloniki is a city that doesn’t reveal its secrets to those who rush. It asks you to slow down, look around, and taste life deeply.

Enjoy your stay, and welcome to our neighborhood!

With love,

Yolanda ❤️
