Room with a View: The Ultimate Festive Sunset Spot Over Aristotelous Square

It is December and Christmas magic has officially arrived in Thessaloniki! Tonight, as the afternoon fades, I am taking you to a legendary local favorite that lives up to its name every single time: Room with a View (Domatio me Thea).

Perched high on the 5th floor of the historic Olympion building right on Aristotelous Square, this place is, without a doubt, the ultimate urban sunset sanctuary.

Looking out from the window right now, the view is so breathtaking it almost feels unreal. Below us, Aristotelous Square is fully dressed in its Christmas best, glowing with thousands of festive lights and surrounding the grand holiday tree. But the real showstopper is the sky. The December sunset has painted the horizon in exploding shades of deep orange and warm pink, casting a magical glow over the Thermaikos Gulf. And there, standing proud and crystal-clear in the far distance across the sea, is the snow-capped silhouette of Mount Olympus.

Sitting in this cozy, artistic space with a warm cup of coffee (or a pre-holiday cocktail!), watching the city lights twinkle as the sun goes down, is pure bliss. It is the perfect spot to slow down, take a deep breath, and appreciate how incredibly beautiful Thessaloniki is during the winter.

If you are looking for that one postcard-perfect photo to make you fall in love with the city’s festive soul, this is exactly where you need to be.

Local Tip: Because it is situated inside the Olympion complex (which also hosts the International Film Festival events), it can get quite busy around sunset hours, especially during the weekends. Try to head up a bit before the sun starts to dip so you can secure a highly coveted seat right by the window glass!

Where to find it: Aristotelous Square 10 (5th floor, Olympion Building), Thessaloniki
